VISUAL EVOKED POTENTIALS (VEP)
Visual evoked potential tests are non-invasive procedures used to assess how well your brain and nerves respond to visual and sensory signals. This non-invasive test helps neurologists identify abnormalities in how certain signals travel from the sensory organs to the brain. At Brisbane Neurology, our team is dedicated to providing a supportive and comfortable environment, making sure you feel as relaxed as possible during these tests.
Types of Evoked Potential Testing at Brisbane Neurology
Our specialists offer two types of evoked potential testing:
Visual evoked potential (VEP) is a diagnostic test that measures your brainโs response to visual stimuli. During this test, youโll look at patterns on a screen while sensors record your brainโs activity, helping us assess the health of your visual pathways. This test is useful for detecting any abnormalities in vision-related areas of the brain.
Somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) measures how well sensory signals travel through your bodyโs nerves to your brain by placing small electrodes on your skin and gently stimulating specific nerves. This test identifies issues with the sensory pathways in the brain and spinal cord.
Your referring doctor will always advise you which test to book.
You can only book these tests with a doctorโs referral.
