Peterย (Masters of Nursing Science) initially studied science at the University of the West of England in the UK before pursuing a nursing career in the late 1990โ€™s. Following graduation as a registered nurse from the University of Southampton, Peter moved to Australia and began working in general medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Womenโ€™s Hospital in 2002.ย 

He quickly discovered an affinity for acute and critical care, moving to the Intensive Care Unit, completing postgraduate qualifications in ICU nursing through QUT in 2006. It was during this time in the ICU that he began to specialise in neurosurgical and neurological patient care.

Peter soon progressed to ward and unit management. ย Initially, this was in post-acute care, however he soon transitioned to the position of Nurse Unit Manager in Neurology at the Royal Brisbaneโ€”it was here that his interest in neurosciences, and in particular, epilepsy truly began to flourish.

In 2015 Peter moved to the Mater Hospital Brisbane to help spearhead the nursing service in the newly developed advanced epilepsy monitoring unit. He further extended his scope while at the Mater, by completing a Masters of Nursing Science (MNSc NP), again through QUT, graduating in 2017 with distinction and subsequent endorsement as a nurse practitioner.

Peter has extended his scope of interest and expertise to encompass other subspecialty areas in neurology including pregnancy and epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and migraine.ย  He runs a dedicated treatment clinic at Brisbane Neurology for injectable MS therapies.

Peter has previously won many nursing awards and accolades including health practitioner of the year from Epilepsy Queensland, and innovation awards from Queensland health for model of care delivery.

Peter additionally holds a permanent position at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in the department of Neurology outpatients service where he sees patients as both new and review cases with seizure disorders.

Outside of work, Peter is a family man.ย  His love of football, or more accurately Arsenal, is well known, and the reason that he doesn't sleep at weekends.
