How to Refer

FOR DOCTORSย

Thank you for considering a referral to Brisbane Neurology.

We value your trust and aim to ensure your patient is seen as efficiently and appropriately as possible. To help streamline the referral process, weโ€™ve included some important information below.

REFERRAL PROCESS

Medical Objects is our preferred method for receiving referrals as it goes directly to the doctor for review.

  • Referrals should be to a specific provider who fits the referral โ€“ this helps with appropriate triaging and timely booking
(Please see the conditions we treatย for individual doctorโ€™s sub-specialties and areas of interest.)
  • Including a patient email address helps us contact your patient quickly. If we are unable to contact your patient due to missing details, the referral may be returned to your care.
  • All referrals are individually triaged by the named doctor. You will be notified if the referral is accepted, redirected or returned.

REFERRALS WE CANโ€™T ACCEPT

Sometimes our doctors will pause accepting referrals subject to their availability and review patient wait times.

If a named doctor is unable to accept a referral, wherever possible the referral will be offered to another appropriate doctor in our practice. Alternatively, we may suggest a different provider or practice when returning to care.

We do not accept:

  • Patients under the age of 16 years.
  • Referrals relating to third parties, including but not limited to: ADF, Workcover, Insurance, MVA or Medicolegal.
  • Referrals from doctors who are not medical doctors (dentists, optometrists etc). All referrals must be from medical doctors with an open Australian provider number.

Dr Airey is not accepting new referrals as she has relocated to Tasmania.

FEES AND WAIT TIMES

We are a private practice, and private fees apply.

Wait times for appointments vary between doctors.
Each doctor triages their own referrals.
We offer a waitlist for patients who wish to be contacted when cancellations arise.

CONTACTING OUR DOCTORS

Our doctors are not available in the rooms every day, so responses may be delayed at times.

For urgent enquiries regarding a mutual patient, please contact the Mater switchboard who can help direct you.

For non-urgent enquiries regarding a mutual patient, email contact is preferred, including your direct contact details (preferably mobile) so the relevant doctor can follow up personally.

Doctors are unable to return calls to general practice reception lines due to time constraints.

We are not able to provide general advice for neurology patients not known to the practice.

We appreciate your referrals and look forward to working with you to provide the best care for your patients.
